Hovis × Publicis Poke

"As good today as it's ever been" gets a £4m relaunch

What happened
Hovis brought back its 1973 Ridley Scott "Boy on the Bike" cue — the hill, the music, the accent — across TV, cinema, OOH and retail media, with almost no new brand-building beyond it.
Why it matters
It's a clear bet on mental availability over novelty. In a category where own-label keeps gaining, Hovis is spending to stay the brand people picture when they think "bread".
Our take
Reassuringly boring, in the best way. The risk isn't the idea — it's whether £4m is enough weight behind it to move a number.
